The Bayraktar TB2 |
A combat drone bought for Ukrainian forces through a crowdfunding campaign is set to arrive in the country this evening.
The Bayraktar TB2 will be transferred from Lithuania later today, the country's defence minister Arvydas Anusaukas said.
Almost 6 million euros was raised to pay for the drone in May but its Turkish maker, Baykar, decided to donate it instead.
Baykar and Lithuania agreed that 1.5 million euros would be spent to arm the drone with the rest of the crowdfunded money going toward humanitarian help for Ukraine.
Last week, Baykar said it would donate three of its drones to the Ukrainian armed forces.
